THE ROLE OF HYPNOTHERAPY
THE POWER TOOL OF CHANGE

Hypnosis can be one of the most effective tools in helping you stop smoking for life! It must be understood that hypnosis is a powerful tool, that will help you BUT ultimately it is you who has to make the conscious choice to change and not smoke for life. Your success in stopping smoking ultimately depends upon your desire and actions. Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool but you are driving the car, deciding the direction.

WHY USE HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective tools in personal transformation. It helps to dissolve unwanted physical habits, and can uncover deep-rooted emotional-psychological pain and patterns.

Hypnotherapy works within the individual, primarily with the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind resists change and it is this ability to resist that makes hypnotherapy so valuable. This form of therapy is truly working with the root or seed of the problem – it begins and ends with the mind. As written in the Art of hypnosis, there is a basic law of the mind at work here: whenever your conscious and subconscious are in conflict, your subconscious invariably wins. (13) With hypnotherapy you can align these forces, working together with the subconscious, reprogramming and reformatting it.
Master Charles Tebetts clearly explains in his book, Self Hypnosis and other mind expanding techniques (3rd Ed) p. 6: Since the subconscious mind is our driving force, we always do what our subconscious believes. Since it will believe everything it is told, we can reprogram it if we bypass the conscious mind and substitute new constructive ideas for its existing negative or old ones.
Hypnotherapy is a form of healing and true resolve that aligns with the current pace of society. It is quick – but a true fix as it is working within and with the part of self that pain and patterns are born and hide.

Hypnosis FAQs

q: What is hypnosis?
a:
Taken from:
Charles Tebbetts: Second Edition of Miracles on Demand
There is no legal definition for hypnosis. Webster’s dictionary describes it incorrectly as an artificially induced sleep, but it is actually a natural state of mind and induced normally in everyday living much more often than if is induced artificially. Every time we become engrossed in a novel or a motion picture, we are in a natural hypnotic trance. (p. 211-212).

Hypnosis is simply an altered state of consciousness. The hypnotist is the guide who directs and leads the individual into their self induced trance, or altered state. Simply, hypnosis can be viewed as guided meditation. (p. 18)

q: What does it feel like to be hypnotized?
a:
The hypnosis I practice is achieved through extreme relaxation, and it is a pleasurable experience for the body and mind. Most people respond with a feeling of relaxation and peacefulness. Opposite to the stigma that once surrounded hypnosis, you will not feel weird, strange, dizzy, or as if you are in a trance being taken advantage of. Since all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, you ultimately remain in charge.

q: What if I can’t be hypnotized?
a:
Again, you are ultimately in charge of the process, since all hypnosis is self-induced. It is your choice to follow the simple instructions that will induce a state of hypnosis. Those individuals with an average to high IQ, and who are strong willed are the best candidates. Seemingly, those with a very low IQ, whom hold a lack of desire and willingness to cooperate with the instructions, can be difficult to induce.

q: What if I can’t go very deep?
a: The depth one reaches within the process does not equally measure the effectiveness or resolve. Many studies have shown that those reaching and resting in a light to mid range hypnotic level receive the most benefit during and after the process. Ultimately it is the self-determined individual that truly affects the process and outcome.

q: What if I get stuck and can't wake up?
a: This is impossible. Despite common misinformation, you are driving the hypnosis vehicle and ultimately decide where you will go and what you will take with you. While under hypnosis you can generally bring yourself into a conscious state whenever you want. A person who reaches a very deep state of relaxation may drift into sleep and if no one awakens them, they will eventually wake up naturally on their own. There is no harm involved with this process.

q: Is it smart to let someone control my mind?
a:
As discussed earlier, a hypnotist cannot make you do anything you do not want to do. Your subconscious mind will not accept suggestions in conflict with your desires, morals or beliefs.

q: Will I remember what happened during the session?
a:
The majority of people do remember all or most of the session. Those individuals reaching a deep state of relaxation may have slept and therefore may feel that there will be no affectivity but this is simply not true. They may feel consciously unaware – however the subconscious mind is forever present. It never sleeps, at the end of the day it hears and participates in everything that happens.

q: Does hypnosis always work?
a:
Hypnosis works in various degrees, but can work for everyone because we all have a subconscious mind. Hypnosis can be seen as a power tool that works at different levels or intensities. Some people experience an immediate connection, while others will find that with patience and persistence, their subconscious mind can be coaxed into making the changes they desire.
