The founder of core belief engineering:
Core Belief Engineering (CBE) was officially founded by Elly Roselle in 1982 in White Rock, British Columbia. This form of psychotherapy grew out of Elly's 20 year old struggle against anorexia and bulimia. Like many who now turn to CBE for therapy, Elly tried almost every therapy available in attempt to understand and heal the pain that kept her patterns and life on hold. It is through this deep internal work that Elly uncovered and developed a process with which she truly healed her pain, patterns, and illusionment. In simplified explanation she identified, understood and finally changed negative and inappropriate beliefs that were deeply planted and held within her subconscious mind. Since officializing the process through copyright in 1984, Elly has dedicated most of her energy to healing others through the CBE process. She currently conducts research, writes, teaches others the process, and practices CBE in guiding others through their own unique healing process.

The Basics of Core Belief Engineering:
For more than two decades, CBE has proved remarkably successful in meeting its founding objective of identifying and understanding root causes of mental, emotional and psychophysical problems to ultimately change the outdated beliefs that fuel psychological discord.
The subconscious mind can be understood as
multiplicity of functions and parts that make up our
own behavior and personality. We can use imagery
for basic comparison, the parts under the hood of a
vehicle – or under the cover of any machine – work
together to move the machine in a certain direction or
function. These subconscious parts often hold
differing beliefs, as they were developed to
understand, respond and survive in a certain reality.
These old subconscious parts can continue to manifest and play in the present moment, altering
and distorting our perception of reality. These old
parts are the root cause of inner conflict, feelings of
guilt, fear, limiting ideas and physical complaints.
Ultimately our reality is the grand collective of all our parts and their beliefs working in combination - some pulling us in one direction and others preventing us from moving forward. As Elly Roselle simply explains, "A belief is not an idea held by the mind - it is an idea that holds the mind…"

A Core Belief Engineering (CBE) Session:
Every CBE session is unique but generally follows a similar structure. Depending on the situation and needs of the client a session ranges from a half to full day (4-7 hours). Clients often undergo a series of sessions, conducted as the need arises. To create a foundation of understanding, each session opens with a gentle interview and questioning period. After establishing a specific goal for the session, the part responsible for symptom is identified. Then a guided communication begins between the conscious mind and this part of the subconscious mind. The part reveals its own beliefs and logic, and provides a path to the core self, where resolution is possible. Altering the emotional and intellectual blueprint, creates change that is real and lasting. The result is empowering: increased trust in self, freedom from fears, feeling of choice, and ability to manifest what you want in your life.

The role of parts and beliefs.
As mentioned above, beliefs are held within different parts of our subconscious mind. These parts are developed to help us move through life and interpret all experiences. A belief system is held within each of these parts. Our experience and future are drawn from these deep-seated beliefs. They become the foundations on which automatic, robotic, unconscious repetitive behavior and patterns are formed. The majority of our automatic patterns are extremely restricted, limiting our experience and movement in life.
These beliefs are often formed early in life and are based on our fears, confusion and minimal understanding of the world at the time. Our basic conscious beliefs are held unchanged by our emotions.
There are endless examples of beliefs or patterns trapped within the psyche. Beliefs can be passed down from the post war generation; where one feels they are never secure and they must save everything, other short examples may involve ideas around social acceptance, sexuality and mannerisms. A very basic simple play of this mind trap can be illustrated using an elderly woman who is confronted with the language of expression from teens in our current generation. Everything becomes twisted or tarnished in the ladies mind, and following she may experience emotional and physical discomfort. The words these teens use now hold new meaning, but the ladies mind is holding on to the strict interpretation of the past for understanding. These meanings are no longer significant but alter and distort her perception, experience and reality.
As every individual moves through life, their conscious mind simultaneously moves forward and grows. However, there are different parts within our subconscious mind that can hold deeply to past experiences, and beliefs. When the conscious and subconscious parts of you hold different concepts, their conflicts create confusion and stress in your life. When you desire something in your life and your subconscious wants something else, you may not get what you ask for. Most of us have all experienced an internal conflict.
Internal struggle is simply a disharmony between our conscious and subconscious minds. You may feel that part of you is ready to take on more responsibility in your life, but you still experience a strong fear of failure. Others may be truly ready to have an open loving relationship but remain unstable as they have never experienced unconditional love and are afraid of judgment. The Core Belief Engineering (CBE) process enables you to find resolution and cooperation between the responsible subconscious part, the core self and the conscious mind. CBE helps people to understand what issues and beliefs are holding a behavior in place.

Advantages of CBE
CBE goes beyond merely analyzing and being conscious of a certain belief or pattern. The force of CBE lies within its target. The primary focus is placed not on the issue such as a phobia; instead CBE aims to go beneath to the core belief structures that are holding the issue or pattern in place. This process not only removes the issue, more over it removes the foundation to truly create new ground and real lasting change.
It needs to be emphasized that CBE creates profound change. CBE aims to solve the root of the problem. It indirectly deals with side effects or following behaviours as only an arm of the real issue. CBE targets the body, which ultimately disables all arms or side behaviours or patterns that are attached to the core disillusionment.
The length and process of CBE is cost and time effective. In our world of convince most people are now accustomed to speedy resolutions. In one day, CBE reaches set objectives, that it takes traditional therapy typically three months to reach (minimally).
The CBE process truly empowers because the individual takes the leading role in their process of change and healing. This direct connection results in a greater sense of self; expanded consciousness, greater confidence, balanced emotions, stronger intellect and intuition, greater self-trust, respect and ultimately love.

The Different CBE Processes: Understanding the Purpose
Mother-Father Process: This process aims to understand and clear core belief structures that have been passed down and absorbed from parents. These structures do affect your life-style and behavior patterns, your growth, ultimate potential, and self-esteem. This process is designed to resolve these deep-seated issues around family of origin, to reestablishes a true sense of internal support and connection.
Clearing the Noise: This process can be used alone or within another process to clear a surplus of internal noise and attached images and feelings from the mind and body. This noise can be identified as negative self talk, constant repetitive tapes of internal phrases.
Eyes and Ears Process: This process opens your field of perception by identifying and clearing old subjective filters and limitations on the eyes and ears.
Male/Female Energy Balancing: This process explores and discovers belief patterns and behavioral styles that are determined by the influence of male and female social programming and personal decision. This will relieve the tensions and rigidities around female and male specific programming, which could include, ideas of gender roles, concepts of masculinity and femininity, sexuality issues and stereotypes, and relationships. It helps you to solve blocks in forming and maintaining profitable relationships, to add flexibility and choice of abilities and behaviours so that you will be able to interact and connect with anyone, of any age.
Word Chains: This process explores the deep belief structure you may have created under a word or phrase, to ultimately change any automatic limiting reaction. A successful word chain process will return a word back into a useful tool of communication rather than a trigger for an uncontrollable reaction.
Aligning the Chakric Body: This process explores the chakric body of the individual to better understand each unique energy system. The objective is better health, greater manifestation of desire, clearer thinking, increased confidence, and a strengthened conscious connection with your inner self.
